Job Description:
Senior Performance Test Engineer needed to lead the planning and execution of test strategies for moderate to complex performance test engagements to determine system performance, capacity, stability, and scalability. In addition, the incumbent will develop and maintain performance test plans, cases, scenarios, and scripts, design test data strategies for performance test, and elicit performance requirements and determine workload and usage models. The Sr. Performance Test Engineer will perform test execution, monitoring, diagnostics, analysis, tuning, and reporting of results to identify and troubleshoot system performance issues and bottlenecks, as well as lead the work of others and the review of performance-related work products and deliverables. our client currently has a need to hire three Senior Performance Test Engineers.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, management information systems, or equivalent engineering experience, required.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Five years of experience in performance test engineering or related experience required.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycles, software engineering processes, test processes, operating systems, mainframe, web applications, client/server applications, distributed systems, shared services, communication protocols, and architectures required.
- Strong knowledge of application software, performance test methods, infrastructure, and network required.
- Working knowledge of one or more software programming languages required.
- Working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, diagramming and presentation software required.
- Three years technical lead experience required.
- Working knowledge of project planning and estimation preferred.
- Performance tool certification or performance designation preferred.
- The position requires the incumbent to work non-standard hours as needed.
- Strong problem solving, analytical and trouble-shooting skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information into non-technical terms.
- Strong ability to interpret and summarize performance test metrics, including the ability to create and present result reports for various audiences.
- Strong planning, leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to operate a computer and related software and equipment.
Additional Preferred Experience Includes:
- Experience with Hewlett Packard (HP) Performance Center/Load Runner; Shunra, preferred.
- Strong/proven experience in pre-production application/transaction level tracing/monitoring preferred.
- Proven experience in implementing performance test strategies, designing tests, and executing performance tests through highly complex SOA-based distributed systems (high volume; online and batch transactions), using IBM based integration layer, Websphere Java application servers is preferred.
- Experience performance testing J2EE technologies including servlet, JDBC, JSP, Java language; IIS, ASP.NET applications; Oracle, DB2, SQL Server is preferred.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking. Working knowledge of underlying technologies including HTTP & HTML is preferred.
- Experience diagnosing and debugging performance bottlenecks by interpreting test results and analyzing metrics gathered using tools, such as CA Wily Introscope, HP Diagnostics, HP SiteScope, OPNET ACE Live, server logs is preferred.
